Do you or anyone in your household suffer from allergies or respiratory issues? The air in your home/business may be contributing to your asthma or breathing problems as a result of indoor pollution. Fortunately, cleaner, safer, and healthier air is achievable. Air purifiers are some of the most effective ways to improve the quality of air in your home/business. Using electric currents, air purification systems work to remove contaminants from the air entirely.
It is nearly impossible to eliminate all of the contaminants circulating through your HVAC system and into the air. Installing an air purification system can help significantly reduce the number of contaminants and irritants in your home/business.
B & J Plumbing Heating & Cooling specializes in indoor air quality equipment that can work smoothly with your HVAC equipment. We are trained to find the right system for your home/business and safely install it.
If your existing air purification system has stopped working properly and you need to have it repaired, we can help you with that. You can rely on us to show up quickly and determine what is wrong with your equipment.

It can actually feel warmer and more uncomfortable inside a home/ business during the summer months if there is too much moisture in the air. Too much humidity also means your air conditioner is unnecessarily working overtime. Whole Home/Business Dehumidifiers can be easily combined with your existing heating and cooling system to prevent the negative effects of humidity such as stickiness and discomfort, buckling hardwood floors, and mold.

B & J Plumbing Heating & Cooling can balance the moisture in the air inside of your home/business. In fact, an air conditioner acts as a partial dehumidifier by pulling excess moisture from the air as it cools. Adding moisture to the air is an essential part of being more comfortable in your home during the winter months. Dry and itchy winter discomfort usually stems from moisture imbalances inside your home. During the winter, the average home in Iowa is drier than most deserts. Homes without humidification systems typically have between 12% and 21% humidity, while the Sahara Desert averages 25% humidity. A humidification system can be easily combined with your existing heating and cooling system to prevent the negative effects of low humidity. These can range from sore throats and susceptibility to colds, to damaged wood trim and floors.
Adding humidity to your indoor environment in the winter time can also make your home feel warmer, which adds up to improved heating efficiency and savings on your heating bill at the end of each month. Humidification systems can also be inexpensive and easy to maintain.

Air ducts are often hidden from sight in residential and commercial buildings, and performance issues may stay undetected. Deficiencies in air duct systems reduce the effectiveness of heating and cooling equipment, while driving up energy expenses. Air duct issues also have a negative effect on indoor air quality.
HVAC performance can be improved by using high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment, complemented with automatic controls to boost energy savings. However, heating and cooling can only be delivered effectively if the air duct system of a building is in good condition.
If you are experiencing inconsistent temperatures in your home or feel like your air conditioning system is constantly running with minimal results, then you might have issues with your air ducts. In many situations, retrofitting an older air duct system to optimize your HVAC system can be a great long term solution to your air conditioning problems. At a minimum, sealing the entire air duct system or finding and fixing leaks is an easy step to stop energy loss and save money on energy bills.
Modern HVAC systems make it easier than ever before to live in complete comfort within your home throughout the year. That being said, there is generally room for improvement with any HVAC system. If you use a ducted, forced air distribution based heater and/or air conditioner, you should seriously consider the installation and utilization of a Zone Control System. This is a great way in which to heat and/or cool your home in a more effective, controlled manner.
How it works
A zone control system consists of 3 basic components: thermostats, a control panel, and electronic dampers. Your home is divided up into different “zones,” decided upon by you and your HVAC technician. A thermostat is installed into each zone, and they are all wired into the central control panel. Also wired into this panel are the electronic dampers. When you adjust the temperature for any given zone at the appropriate thermostat, the corresponding dampers will either open or close. By allowing for more airflow/stemming airflow as needed, the system allows you to maintain different temperatures in different areas of your home.
Benefits of a Zone Control System
The ability to maintain varied temperatures throughout your home helps to ensure that everyone is able to live comfortably.
The benefits; all residents in your home will be comfortable. Taking more control over your HVAC system means that you can cut down on energy use without putting your comfort in jeopardy.
To take advantage of all that zone control has to offer, contact B & J Plumbing Heating & Cooling to learn more or schedule an appointment.
